Tasmanian owned since 1982
Since the beginning, our sole aim has been to provide an expert-driven and efficient plumbing service to our customers.
A family-owned business putting people first.
We’ve been here helping Tasmanians with their plumbing needs since 1982. Servicing the Greater Hobart and Southern Tasmania regions, we’ve spent the last four decades continuously going above and beyond for our clients. Many hours (so many that we’ve lost count) have been spent pouring our expertise into residential and commercial projects located across the state.
With the growth of the business, what began as Howrah Plumbing Service became incorporated in 1986. Purchasing our Head Office and Workshop facility in 1997, the hub of our operations has been located in Mornington ever since. Centrally located, with over 50 employees and specialised equipment such as our hydro vacuum excavation & drainage trucks, we’re able to efficiently and reliably meet our customers’ plumbing needs 24/7.
We are conscious and truly appreciate the ongoing business support of our local Tasmanian community. We focus on giving back/paying forward to make our communities a little better every day. Check out our Community page to find out more.
Taking pride in what they do, our team work hard to get the best outcome for you, every time.
With many phases of growth throughout the years, our team – our Howrah Plumbing family – has grown to include over 50 employees. Each playing a vital role in delivering on our commitment to you, our team includes plumbers, gasfitters, roofers, Hydro Vacuum Operators, pipe reliners, office staff and professional services personnel.
Striving to better their knowledge and practices, our plumbers and engineers remain up to date with the latest training so that we can provide modern solutions to meet your plumbing needs. Sharing our wealth of knowledge with the next generation, we also employ and train apprentice plumbers.

Since 2014, we have taken numerous steps to reduce Howrah Plumbing’s environmental impact. To be a good corporate citizen, we realise that we have a responsibility to do whatever possible to reduce our carbon footprint and be conscious of the environment that we leave for the next generations.
We began our sustainability journey by replacing our petrol vehicles with diesel, and in 2016 we installed a rooftop photovoltaic solar system at our Mornington facility. At present, these generate renewable electricity and offset our consumption of power from the network.
We have also invested in work-management software that has enabled us to transition to a paperless work environment, decreasing our environmental impact. This has also allowed us to automate our workflow processes, schedule work economically and increase productivity. Today, all Howrah Plumbing team members manage their jobs via an iPad, capturing all work-related information, including photographs, Job Hazard Assessments and Safe Work Method Statements, in one centralised place.
An in-house recycling program has also been established, ensuring that all possible materials are recycled to minimise waste to landfill. Currently, all of our paper, steel, iron, aluminium, brass and copper materials are recycled.
A process of continuous improvement, we are committed to finding practical ways to help conserve our environment and benefit the communities in which we work.
